Local Campaign Draws to a Close

EDGEWATER - With less than a week to go before Election Day next Tuesday, the local candidates have begun their final push for election to the Edgewater Borough Council.

Democratic incumbents Mary Hogan and Neda Rose are seeking their third terms respectively on the Council, while sole Republican challenger Will Corrente needs a split ticket to secure one of the Council seats up for grabs.

A review of the candidates’ web sites sheds light on the current concerns and major issues in the minds of Borough residents. Hogan and Rose set forth a list of "What We Stand For" and "What We Won’t Stand For", while Corrente’s site now includes a list of what he "Stands For" and "Condemns". Common campaign platform planks include the protection of open space, increasing public safety, and a fiscally responsible government, while both sides condemn unrestricted concessions to local developers, political nepotism, and closed Borough meetings. Hogan and Rose also believe in increased involvement of all interested citizens and open, accessible government, while Corrente emphasizes tax stabilization and increased quality of life.

The polls are open on Election Day, Tuesday, November 7, from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm. Polling locations for the election districts in Edgewater are as follows:

District Location
1 Borough Hall, River Road
2 Borough Hall, River Road
3 North End Fire House, River Road
