Edgewater Celebrates 9th Annual Arts Festival

Edgewater Arts FestivalEDGEWATER - On Sunday, September 17th, over 2,500 residents and visitors enjoyed art, music, food, and the companionship of their neighbors at the 9th annual Edgewater Arts Festival.

This year, the Edgewater Arts Council decided to donate the monies collected from the sale of the Festival’s lithographs to the victims of the recent fire at the site of the old Alcoa building. At the September 18th Mayor and Council meeting, over $1,000.00 was turned over to the Good Neighbor Fund from sales of the lithos. The lithographs from previous years can still be purchased at the special price of 2 for $25 from the Arts Council by calling Councilwoman Neda Rose at (201) 943-1700, ext. 175, with all proceeds donated to the Edgewater fire victims.

Edgewater Arts FestivalThe Cultural & Historic Society updated the scripts used by the actors in the cemetery play and coordinated the tour buses and guides. They also sold copies of the book A History of the Borough of Edgewater and prints of Tillietudlem, the estate and county seat of Frances Tillou, which once existed on the site of the current Grand Cove Marina. Monies from the sale of these items were turned over to the borough to help with the replanting of trees in the Edgewater Historic Cemetery which were damaged by the fire.

The Garden judges of the Arts and Music Festival voted to add the $100.00 Garden Award prize money to this fund because some of the gardens they were considering for the award were damaged by the fire. The total donations so far totaled $460.00 for replacement of trees. The History of Edgewater books are still on sale at Borough Hall.

Throughout the day, shoppers and artists enjoyed the wonderful music performed on the Bergen County Show Mobile. It was such a full schedule that the acts actually had to be limited to performance time.
