Alphonse “Allie Red” Galizia has been in the professional beauty industry for over 25 years. During this time, he has gained international recognition for his expertise in all aspects of his field, ranging from artist/educator to innovator/manufacturer. His past experience includes serving as artistic director for Vidal Sassoon in New York; being President of Allie Red, Inc., a consulting/ marketing/ design & manufacturing company for the professional beauty industry based in Los Angeles, New York, and Tokyo, and serving as Southwest Regional Director for John Paul Mitchell Systems. His credits include work in film, video, and commercials, with Tom Hanks, Goldie Hawn, Julie Andrews, Rod Stewart, Deborah Harry, Chris Evert, Lilly Tomlin, Miss Universe Pageants, and many others. His work as a hair stylist has also been featured in Mademoiselle, Bazaar, the New York Times, and other publications.

Spring is in the air, but the weather has been very erratic, with very odd weather conditions. We haven’t had much sunshine and we haven’t been swimming a lot. So right now, our hair is benefiting from the calm of Mother Nature.

Beware and prepare yourself for the coming summer season and make sure you stock up on haircare and skincare products, such as sunscreens, moisturizers, deep conditioning treatments, leave-in reconstruction and rehydrating lotions. Pay attention to the delicate balance of your hair and skin.

Enjoy the beauty of summer, and use precaution and protect your hair and skin. Get some sunshine and soak up the warmth of the sunny summer. You should use products with SPF factors all year, but it is essential to take special care during the summer months. Keep drinking that water: the hotter it gets, the more your body needs the hydration.
